High speed growth

What Erwin Junker initiated in 1962 with three employees in a former flour mill is today a strong group of companies with the best references on the world market: JUNKER - partner for precision.

The first completely automatic JUNKER machine emerged back in 1962, when hydropower still used to drive part of the production machinery. In just ten years, the production range had grown to more than 30 grinding machines and the production area covered over 3,000 square metres.

Numerous patents pay testimony to the company’s technological leadership. Many of these solutions have developed into impressive drivers for the industry as a whole.

1962: Erwin Junker founds the company Erwin Junker Machinen- und Apparatebau in a flour mill.1974: Construction of a third factory hall and extension of the administration offices and staff rooms.1986: Construction of further new assembly halls and a four-storey office building1989: Breakthrough to the automobile industry at the 8th EMO trade fair, covering 500 m², in Hanover.1992: Acquisition of what is today JUNKER Grinding Technology a.s. in the Czech Republic with several sites1995: Opening of the Technology Center for research and development purposes2005: On a stand covering 720 m², JUNKER presents itself with the largest trade fair presence to date2009: Current headquarters in Nordrach in the Black Forest, Germany

  • 1962: The company “Erwin Junker Machines and Equipment” is established in an abandoned grain
    mill
  • 1963: Delivery of the fi rst SJ II a (screw tap point grinding machine)
  • 1964: Product range expanded to include square milling machines; First tradeshow participation at the international machine tools exhibition in Hannover and creation of a network of representatives
  • 1966: Construction of a fully-automatic flute grinding machine for screw taps
  • 1972: The product range now includes 34 different machines types
  • 1973: Introduction of the first GSAJ thread grinding machine
  • 1975: First major order from China for a screw tap production line
  • 1977: Opening of company-owned distribution centers in the US and Germany
  • 1978: Introduction of CBN high-speed grinding machines
  • 1980: Opening of a distribution location in Great Britain
  • 1981: Opening of a distribution location in France
  • 1982: The product range now includes 50 different machines types
  • 1985: The unique, patented QUICKPOINT technology hits the market
  • 1987: Launch into the automotive industry with the sale of the first Valve Center; Approx. 70 different machine types in the product range; Company manufactures its own JUKOMET grinding spindles with wheel mounting system
  • 1991: New machine concepts for complete grinding of automotive components
  • 1992: Acquisition of the three Czech locations in Mělnik, Čtyřkoly and Strědokluky and establishment of the JUNKER Group
  • 1993: Establishment of the company LTA Lufttechnik
  • 1995: Opening of the Technology Center in Nordrach
  • 1997: Acquisition of the company RIKA AG in Switzerland
  • 1998: JUNKER awarded the VW “Formula Q” award for quality; acquisition of the Holice, Czech Republic location
  • 2001: JUNKER Group is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 and VDA 6.4
  • 2003: The first JUCRANK CBN high-performance grinding machine for complete grinding of crankshafts in a single clamping set-up. Opening of the sales and service location in Shanghai, China
  • 2005: Premiere of the new Evolution² machine concept
  • 2007: Czech locations merge to become Erwin Junker Grinding Technology a.s.
  • 2008: The first JUCENTER CBN high-speed grinding machine with two stations
  • 2009: Opening of a sales and service location in Pune, India
  • 2011: Opening of a sales and service location in São Paulo, Brazil
