Could you describe your career at Erwin Junker Maschinenfabrik GmbH?
After completing my training as an industrial mechanic in the spring of 2017, I was hired for component assembly. A year later, my area of responsibility expanded to include more work within the RETROFiT department for machine overhauls and the commissioning of our new machines. I have been working as an Application Engineer in our Technology Center since January 2024.
What is your area of responsibility?
I am responsible for carrying out grinding tests and documenting the test results. I also coordinate and implement new machine and program-technology developments, as well as measures to improve cycle times and optimize processes and machine cycles.
Recently, you switched from assembly to the Technology Center; what were the reasons for this?
JUNKER offered the position of Application Engineer in the Technology Center internally, and I applied for it to have the opportunity to develop further within the company – for me, our Technology Center is the perfect department for this.
Are you currently working on an exciting project?
Yes, I am currently working on a new development. I am starting up a new grinding machine from scratch. In this project, I am working with our software department and process and systems engineering department. Our teamwork will result in a product that earns the trust of our customers from various industries.
What do you particularly enjoy about your work?
Every day is different, and new tasks and challenges are always waiting for me. Those challenges motivate me every day. The support form my colleagues is very important; they are always there for me when I need help. The combination of my daily work and the collegial environment is a great match.
