Founded in 1953, ZEMA Zselics Ltda. started with the production of mechanical parts and assemblies. ZEMA then added milling machines in 1962 to its lineup. Sales throughout Brazil the following years proved to ZEMA was on the path to success. As ZEMA continued to grow, ZEMA made the decision to set up a 280,000 m² production site in São Bernardo do Campo. Five years later surface and internal cylindrical grinding machines became part of ZEMA’s growing product lists. 1982 expansion brought with it the addition of the NUMERIKA series for external cylindrical grinding.
Looking for more opportunities, ZEMA became active in the retrofit area as well as overhauling grinding machines to suit every demand in 1988. 1990 proved to be a productive year for ZEMA. It brought the development of the special grinding machine for heavy crankshafts to its lineup. In addition, 1990 ZEMA started exporting to Europe and the US. Further machine developments followed, such as the highly automated grinding machine series for injection nozzles and the introduction of the Futura, Pratika and Intertronika machine series.
ZEMA joined the JUNKER Group in 2015. It continues to expand its product range with such items as the optimization of the machine series for flexible machining of medium and heavy workpieces. The beginning of 2023 ZEMA started the improvement of the NUMERIKA platform. This latest NUMERIKA model is impressive with an optimized guidance system.
ZEMA will display this machine for the first time at the FEIMEC trade show in May 2024. At the end of this year, ZEMA will celebrate these accomplishments of its 70-year history with its resolute workforce. ZEMA, the Brazilian grinding machine manufacturer now employs over ninety staff members who are responsible for design, sales, service, and aftersales.
