Trainee industrial mechanic

A chat with Jannis Skopinski

How did you end up at JUNKER and in what year of training are you in?

Two years ago I decided to complete my industrial mechanic training at Erwin Junker Maschinenfabrik GmbH in Nordrach because I'm interested in machines and good with my hands.

What do you particularly like about your training and the occupation you are training for?

The opportunity to work in different departments, such as assembly, quality testing and the Technology Center, and therefore become familiar with various tasks, offers an enormous level of versatility and makes the training very interesting.

What are the focal points of your training?

The focal points of the training are firstly the mechanical part – including milling, turning, welding, sheet metal machining and pneumatics on CNC and conventional machines. As I progress through my training, it will also include tasks on our grinding machines, for example assistance with final assembly and commissioning.

Are you currently working on specific projects?

At the moment, we commercial trainees are working on a very interesting machine conversion project. It involves modifying an existing grinding machine in a number of aspects to bring it in line with the latest requirements. This includes extensive machine diagnostics, replacing individual subassemblies, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, and axis components.
